You can convert files from one format to another using the tools that are already built into many programs like Word, PowerPoint, or Excel.

What is a file extension?

A file extension is a set of 3 or 4 letters/numbers added to the end of a file name to let the computer know what kind of program to use to open that file.  These are important because computers have many different kinds of programs and files, so knowing which ones go together is the job of a file extension.
